The Most Sought After Coats and Blazers for Fall & Winter
As the leaves have fallen with their changed color it’s that beautiful time of the year where we adjust our closets to fit those chilly mornings and add in slightly thicker garments to our everyday pieces. And I don’t know about you, but I for one can’t wait to bring out my more structured blazers and coziest coats! The 2024 Fall Edit will be a 5 part series that will hit all the upcoming seasons essentials and give you ideas to get your fits and wardrobe ready to enjoy all the fall and winter fashion!
All of this year’s Coats and Blazers are giving more structured silhouettes, maxi lengths, and variations of wool to fur blends than in previous years. So no matter if you are a minimal 90s queen, love serving a 70s foxy brown vibe, or even something bright for the colder months there is something for everyone.
Wool Coats & Blazers
Rather it is wool or wool blend, this is the fabric for the must have coats going into the fall and winter months! Generally wool is a great fabric choice for the colder months regardless, but the options and price point are in such a variety I think it’s worth looking for one that works for you.
Coats this season are all about structured lapels, sleek designed shoulders, and an elongated silhouette. Think of those chic 90s movies of men’s coat vibe. Rather it is chocolate, black, navy, grey, or even wine you will find some beautiful and long lasting coats with this fabrication.
Worker Jackets
This year the worker jacket has been gaining popularity and will next year as well. Yet its reason for existing is more than just chore work! Its origins can be first found in 18th century France for railway workers as a sort of shirt style coat. Yet the recently popular version is more similar to what was at the time, an innovated denim version from the Detroit-based work wear brand Carhartt in 1923!
Over time this staple piece continued evolving with the focus of protection, practicality, and comfort of various industries of technical and infrastructure workers. Now, people are drawn again to the practicability of it’s weather protection capabilities & warm layers in such a minimalistic design. There is something super casual and easy, about this jacket for us modern wearers for sure! Plus rather it is in a traditional form made of cotton or canvas which are the best to prevent wear & tear, or blended with corduroy, or even leather this coat is all about weather protection, and keeping you warm. But regardless of what you might be looking for there is definitely one out there to for your needs.
If you are a fashion history buff here is the article I read about the history of the worker jacket!
Animal Print
Animal print is one of those iconic staples that A), will always be in style, and B), is chic & becomes the outfit for the fall and winter. Beyond the saucy cheetah and leopard print, coats this year are coming in many prints! From a twist in zebra print, spotted print, snakeskin, and more. You can also find it crossing with different textures of faux fur and mohair for a different look and drape this season!
Edgy Coats & Blazers
This is more for the fashion addict looking for that different design or feature than your traditional coat or blazer. Rather it is longer lapels that are built as an extra scarf, how the buttons come together in a more angled or curved manner, or that coat can actually be turned into a blazer or cropped trench, or even turned inside out. It’s about the endless styling possibilities of one item creating 2 options!
Maxi Coats
The longer the coat the elongated you look with these coats. I’m not really one for telling people what to do with their wardrobe, or how to dress and style it. Because I for one hate when someone tells me what or how to dress and I’m just here to obsess over the fabulous options out here with my fellow fashion addicts! However, if I had to, what everyone person should have in their closet regardless of how you express yourself, it would have to be just one maxi coat.
Now this might be bais, considering my love of a good outerwear piece. However, I think we can all agree that an elongated coat delivers that chic impactful moment and just brings your outfit to another level!
In addition with the temperature dropping with chilling winds, a maxi coat keeps you insulated from the neck all the way past your knees. Plus the various materials such as mohair, tweed, suede, faux fur, leather, wool, cotton etc., and thickness will appease to anyone searching for a longer coat this and future seasons.
Faux Fur Coats
If you have a fur coat in your wardrobe there is an automatic fabulousness to your fit. You get both the statement and coziness wrapped up in one sophisticated garment. Rather it’s animal print, shaggy, mohair, multicolor or blended, if you have been wanting a faux fur coat this season, now is the time!
Suede Coats & Blazers
Suede has been on the rise as a popular sought out textile for the fall and winter season. We can definitely thank the wise in western wear and Queen Bey’s Cowboy Carter album for sure. Beyond the bolo ties and metal pointed boots, suede is becoming popular beyond the accessories!
Although not the best for those wet crispy fall days, suede is a great texture addition to your wardrobe and a cozy layered addition to any look. Rather it is a full maxi suede coat, mixed material suede blazer, or a classic 70s modern look you can definitely get your suede fix added to your wardrobe.
Bomber Jackets
Bomber jackets have been winking at us from the fashion runways and on the rise in street styles this past season. And although not as popular as the previous styles especially the worker jacket, I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next year she is blowing up our feeds in nonstop style inspiration.
These small designs and options are in everything from neautral calm faux leathers, multi materials of tweed, suede, faux fur, and in various cross forms as such combining with the puffer style. Bomber jackets are another great way to keep you cozy, looking edgy, and a great transitional piece to have from fall all the way to spring.
So those are the top 2024 Fall-Winter Coats and Blazer styles for the season! Let me know which style aligns with you or what you are loving to style as we get further in fall.
I’ll see you in the next Fall Edit!
